For longer than I can remember, I have had a love affair with the Irish Wolfhound.  I don't even think I met one until I was around 12 years of age, but even before then, I knew what lay in my future.

Kevin and I got our first hound in February, 2002.  She was Karontara Boba Fett - Boba for short.  She was my dream come to life, and sadly, we only had 3 years with her before she was taken from us by pneumonia.  This can be a hard breed to love, that you can lose someone at only 3 years of age.  When Boba was almost 2 years old, we got Jadzia.  Losing Boba was as hard on Jad as it was on us, and several months after Boba passed, Artemis entered our lives.  Jad and Mis soon became the best of friends.  Shortly after our move here, the chance at a lovely bitch puppy presented itself and we could not pass it up.  And so Rogue entered our lives.  Along with the 3 girls, we presently share our lives with 2 cats, Leia and Pippin.

We currently reside in rural Ontario, South-West of London.  The area is predominantly farm country, and we are lucky to have 11 lovely acres of mostly ravine land to call home.  The air is clean, the atmosphere quiet, and the woods are full of things for the hounds to chase.  It  has not always been like this for us.  When we first got Boba and Jadzia, we were living in Toronto, with no land to speak of.  The farther we have moved into the country, the happier and more relaxed the dogs have become.  And us as well!

I show the girls at IW specialty shows in Canada and the US, as well as attending the occasional  all breed show.  We are active with the girls in lure coursing, both with the CSFA and ASFA.  It is our goal to breed sound hounds, both in form and function.  Our hounds live in the house with us always.  We do have a kennel set up in the garage, if we need to both be away for a long period of time.  That way the dogs can get outside if they need to.  Otherwise, they are likely on one of our many couches!

Visitors are always welcome at Arahu.  We just ask that you kindly contact us first to make arrangements.

Blessed be
Sid Wood
